Santa Cruz Triathlon Relays Race Report

Another highly successful day for Santa Cruz Endurance for the 3 relay teams entered. Martin Spierings exited the water in 2nd place but sprinted up the hill to transition to pass off to Jeremy Page in front of Dream Team. They were never headed from that point of the race with Jeremy cycling the 40k time trial in 1:02:07 and Adam Boothe finishing off with a 35:57 for the 10k anchor leg to win the Male relay. The Co-ed team came from behind after a 24:54 split by Samantha Forde in the 1500m swim and 1:03 from Steve Yatson on the bike. That left them in 3rd place before Rhodes Walton took the timing band and mowed down the two teams in front passing Team Geojocks with less than a mile to go with a 34:43 and another win. The female team of Kristen Van Kley, Roxanne Peralez and Jennifer Willoughby did a great job against one of the most competitive female relay team fields in years. A 26:30 and 1:08:04 from Kristen and Roxanne was backed up with a 43:32 PR for Jennifer to clinch 3rd place on the podium. Both of the teams that beat them were anchored other SCE members! Congrats to the competitors and thanks to the supporters who came out to cheer for us. Full relay results here.
