After several failed attempts Benoit (who has been organizing long, adventurous training runs for the group over the winter) led 6 intrepid long distance runners to the fabled White's Lagoon in Nisene Marks State Forest in Aptos on New Years Day. The 17-mile return journey, including a long energy sapping climb, ended with the lagoon looking a little dark, dry and swampy considering the miles required to get there.
Nevertheless, having heard the fishing was good up there cast an imaginary lure into the murky swamp to commemorate the achievement. If you want to discover new trails around Santa Cruz County with the group, and are not already on the mailing list, please email bpelczar (at) gmail.com.
