Domination at the 2008 Silicon Valley Half Marathon!

The newly formed Santa Cruz Endurance team, composed exclusively of Santa Cruz County runners, burst onto the scene yesterday at the Silicon Valley Half Marathon event. The team won the Club Speed Challenge - Female division and were narrowly edged out of the overall Club Speed Challenge by only 37 seconds by the well established Silicon Valley Triathlon Club. Six members of the team also claimed individual age group honors. Martin Spierings, Kim Thomas (5th overall) and Ed Burns (6th overall) claimed victories in their respective age groups and Adam Boothe, Rachael Brown and Amanda Shuman had podium finishes. Central Coast Running sponsored the entry and transportation costs for the event and as you can see everyone had a great morning! Thanks Zach for the great photos.

Santa Cruz Endurance next outing will be at the Christmas Relay at Lake Merced, San Francisco on the 14th of December. The team will enter four teams in the 4 x 4.5 mile running relay. Interested athletes are encouraged to apply with Martin Spierings at tricoachmartin@gmail.com.

The team is looking to represent a major sponsor to fund the teams endurance racing ambitions in 2009. Keep a close eye on this blog for the latest developments!
