Weekend Results

Magic results for Santa Cruz Endurance athletes in all-women events on the weekend. Samantha Forde and Shoshanah Orzech came 9th and 17th overall in a competitive field of over 250 in the inaugural Dirt Inspires Half Marathon on Sunday. Samantha was also 3rd in her age group. Over in Sacramento, Roxane Peralez came 2nd in the Luna Bar Women’s Triathlon. Congratulations girls. Groups left at home to train rode 60 miles down to Elkhorn Slough and ran up UConn trail in Pogonip on Sunday on a beautifully warm weekend.

Race Thru the Redwoods

Santa Cruz Endurance bought home a swag of age group medals from the Race Thru the Redwoods 10k race in Felton on Sunday. Dan McKinnon (top contender for most improved this year) finished 2nd in the 40-44 closely followed by triathlete Steve Yatson in 3rd. Jennifer Willoughby was the 5th placed female and coaches Martin and Adam finished 4th and 6th overall. Jeremy Page also finished 5th in the highly competitive 35-39 age group and 27th overall amongst 459 competitors. Miriam McKinnon also came smiling across the line in her CCR jersey. Santa Cruz Sprint Triathlon

Santa Cruz Endurance members completely dominated the Santa Cruz Sprint Triathlon which also doubled as the USA Triathlon South West Regional Championships. Shoshana Orzech again won her 35-39 age group following her Sandman Triathlon victory last week. Steve Yatson came 2nd in the 40-44 age group. I managed to win my age group (30-34) and overall male. Rohanna McCord won the 30-34 age group (who I will talk into joining up today). A number of other local Santa Cruz folk did great and hopefully we can pull them into the group and onto the podiums soon. Here is the Sentinel's coverage of the race including a mention of the team.

Former USA National Team duathlon representative, Amanda Shuman, signed in from her vacation in Germany as did Samantha Forde a consistent age group podium finisher in local running events.
